The Center for Socio-Economic development and Innovative Entrepreneurship Support (CDSESAI) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization from Republic of Moldova. Established in 2015 by several young enthusiasts, CDSESAI’s mission is to provide quality services on capacity building for innovative SMEs and the development of practical skills for entrepreneurs.

CDSESAI was established in order to help the community of innovative SMEs to bring their products on the market and improve the product failure rate by strengthening the links of the knowledge triangle and enhancing the attraction of funds for innovative projects. Main objectives are: stimulation of Moldovan enterprises participation in research and innovation funding programs and improvement of National public policies related to development of small- and medium-sized enterprises with actions targeting innovative entrepreneurship. The specificity of CDSESAI resides in bridging the gap between conventional and innovative entrepreneurship and innovation.

CDSESAI objectives:

  • Promoting innovation activities in the business environment;
  • Increasing perception of entrepreneurial culture;
  • Stimulate regional development and strengthening of local government;
  • Encouraging participation of companies and organizations in funding programs;
  • Providing expertise in improving the legislative framework regulating the activity of SMEs.

Social Innovation

CDSESAI conducts research on the social embedding and impact of innovation, and contributes to the design and diffusion of socially accepted and sustainable innovations to meet social challenges. By deployment of innovative research, education, advisory services and co-ordination of networks, we create new knowledge, reflect and configure existing knowledge, evaluate measures, develop concepts and forward their implementation.

Creating value for society

CDSESAI aims to be a catalyst for education and research in social entrepreneurship particularly emphasizing the importance of civil society for the integration of socially vulnerable groups. Our activities in this sector are thus focused on SMEs and the third sector but also includes cooperative relations and interplay between the public sector, the private sector and the civil society.

Business Innovation

CDSESAI offers a mentoring program for companies that want to develop an innovative project and intends to apply for funding to international financing programs. This mentoring represents a personal guide to writing a project proposal for the SME Instrument Horizon 2020 programme.

Helping innovation-driven entrepreneurs develop their business

Companies in Moldova and in other EaP countries lack understanding of European funding programs and skills in writing a project proposal according to the standards required to compete with other European companies. For these reasons CDSESAI developed a mentoring program that guides SMEs step by step in putting their project ides on paper. This program has also the long term objective to instil in entrepreneurs a different way to approach funding opportunities.

Development of Local Public Authorities

CDSESAI supports LPAs in developing skills and human resources for regional development in order to improve local public services in rural areas, in four sectors: 1. Water supply and sanitation; 2. Solid waste management; 3. Development of local entrepreneurship; 4. Energy efficiency

Trainings and Fundraising for local development projects

A large development gap persists between urban and rural areas in Moldova. More than half of the population lives in rural areas. The majority of people lack access to basic public services. Local authorities have only limited financial means and human resources. As a consequence, the low standard of public services has an adverse effect on health, education and local employment opportunities.
